Some problems of directional sensor networks

چکیده
Wireless sensor networks are often based on omni-sensing and communication models. In contrast, in this paper, we investigate sensor networks with directional sensing and communication capability. Due to the distinct characteristics and potential effects on coverage and connectivity of the network, novel analysis and solutions are demanded. Toward this end, this paper analyzes deployment strategies for satisfying given coverage probability requirements with directional sensing models. Moreover, for sensors with directional communication model, we propose methods for checking and repairing the connectivity of the network. We design efficient protocols to implement our idea. A set of experiments are also performed to prove the effectiveness of our solution.

Distributed and Cooperative Compressive Sensing Recovery Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks with Bi-directional Incremental Topology
Recently, the problem of compressive sensing (CS) has attracted lots of attention in the area of signal processing. So, much of the research in this field is being carried out in this issue. One of the applications where CS could be used is wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The structure of WSNs consists of many low power wireless sensors. This requires that any improved algorithm for this appli...
متن کاملThree Dimensional Localization of an Unknown Target Using Two Heterogeneous Sensors
Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks consist of some different types of sensor nodes deployed in a particular area. Different sensor types can measure different quantity of a source and using the combination of different measurement techniques, the minimum number of necessary sensors is reduced in localization problems. In this paper, we focus on the single source localization in a heterogene...
متن کاملImproving Energy-Efficient Target Coverage in Visual Sensor Networks
Target coverage is one of the important problems in visual sensor networks. The coverage should be accompanied with an efficient use of energy in order to increase the network lifetime. In this paper, we address the maximum lifetime for visual sensor networks (MLV) problem by maximizing the network lifetime while covering all the targets. For this purpose, we develop a simulated annealing (SA) ...

Wireless sensor networks are composed of very small devices, called sensor nodes, for numerous applications in the environment. In adversarial environments, the securitybecomes a crucial issue in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). There are various securityservices in WSNs such as key management, authentication, and pairwise keyestablishment. Due to some limitations on sensor nodes, the previous k...
متن کاملCritical Density for Coverage and Connectivity in Two-Dimensional Aligned-Orientation Directional Sensor Networks Using Continuum Percolation
Sensing coverage is one of the fundamental design issues in wireless sensor networks, which reflects the surveillance quality provided by them. Moreover, network connectivity enables the gathered data by sensors to reach to the sink node. Given an initially uncovered field, and as more and more directional sensors are continuously added to the sensor network, the size of partial covered areas i...
